A limit of two adults or one adult and two children are allowed per visit regardless of age. Children under the age of 18 must be escorted by an adult, and are only allowed to visit on weekends. Personal items such as hats, handbags, weapons of all types, umbrellas, packages of any kind, baby strollers, food, tobacco products, lighters, matches, pagers, telephones, recording devices, cameras, illegal drugs, alcoholic beverages, explosives, and any other item considered to be contraband or as a threat to the safety and security of the Norfolk Sheriff's Office and the Norfolk City Jail will not be allowed into the facility. Public lockers are available to store personal property at the user's expense. All visitors are prohibited from leaving personal items unattended in the lobby area. Items shall be stored prior to entering metal detectors. Visitors refusing to store personal items will be denied visitation. Visitors refusing to be searched will be denied visitation.
