Lt. Col. Mark Farsi is Chief of the Norfolk Sheriff's Office Organizational
Development Bureau. He assists with the NSO's daily operations; serves as a
liaison with outside agencies; and oversees PRIDE, an employee accountability
program he helped implement. PRIDE stands for Primary Responsibility Indicators
for Departmental Efficiency. The program measures effectiveness and efficiency
in the Norfolk Sheriff's Office. Lt. Col. Farsi is also responsible for operational
reviews, training issues, overall staff development, as well as the Standards and
Compliance Unit.
Lt. Col. Farsi came to the Norfolk Sheriff's Office in March of 2004, after a
distinguished, twenty year career with the New York City Department of Corrections.
In New York, Farsi became the youngest warden chosen to oversee the safety and
security of inmates and staff in various facilities, including the maximum security
Riker's Island, which holds about 20,000 inmates at a time. He also coordinated then
Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's citywide health insurance initiative, which became a model
for other city agencies to follow.
Lt. Col. Farsi's accomplishments include graduating from the Executive Excellence
Program at the National Institute of Corrections. He and his wife Debbie have 3 sons.
